semperfi8185 56 #1 Posted April 27, 2014 What is the average number of hours a garden tractor is used per year for residential use on a property of about 1 acre?
dandan111 31 #2 Posted April 27, 2014 1acre. You using a 48 inch deck? What are you trying to figure out. Engine life or mow time?
Shuboxlover 480 #3 Posted April 27, 2014 (edited) I would say it depends if you water your lawn or not. I irrigate a little over an acre, and put about 40-50 hours a mowing season with a 60" deck. My neighbor doesn't irrigate, and he puts on about 5 hours a mowing season (cutting his weeds). Edited April 27, 2014 by Shuboxlover
semperfi8185 56 #4 Posted April 27, 2014 Living on St Louis not much watering required with once a week mowing six months a year. The mower has a 48" deck and was used for 15 years but the hour indicator displays over 3000 hours which has to be wrong. Greg

dcrage 630 #6 Posted April 27, 2014 Or the key got left on -- On the 300/400/500 series that keeps the hr meter going
semperfi8185 56 #7 Posted April 27, 2014 The original owner seems like the type that might leave the key in the on position. Nice guy but didn't seem very mechanically minded. Oil looked good but air filter was filthy. It's 264-6 vthat I got for free off Craigslist. The guy said that he parked a couple years ago because it died one day while mowing, and friend told him that it wasn't worth fixing so he started paying someone to now his property. Replaced the fuel pump with one from Ebay and now it starts and runs like a champ. Needs more TLC, a new seat, and hood that was broken when a tree fell on it. 953 nut 59,940 #8 Posted April 27, 2014 I'm with the "Key On" croud. When it quit running he probably left the key on until the battery bit the dust.
