slammer302 2,154 #1 Posted April 25, 2014 The hood on my c-85 when opened up it goes all the way to the ground is this the way its supposed to be or is there supposed to be a stopper or something?
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,049 #2 Posted April 25, 2014 There should be a thin round rod in the front tach o matic which acts as a stop and is missing. Should be the same on most.
slammer302 2,154 #3 Posted April 25, 2014 Thanks I will take a look when I get off work
Kelly 1,028 #4 Posted April 25, 2014 The black hoods have 2 kinds of hinges, unlike the C series style there most likely is tabs that should catch the lower hinge but are bent or worn away, also if the hinge holes are worn it will not hold the hood in alignment, I've had a few that do as yours. slammer302 2,154 #5 Posted April 25, 2014 Were the thin rod is supposed to make contact and stop the hood is worn away
Butch 194 #6 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) ">http://[/">http://[/u The first pic was taken standing along the engine on the right side. The second was a close-up on the right side bracket. Here ya go Slammer. I just took these pics from my C-85. As you can see there are 2 brackets, one on each side. They are bolted on, not welded. If you work with metals they look very easy to make. I could take one off and trace it if you want. They are the same. Hope this helps!! Edited April 25, 2014 by Butch
Butch 194 #7 Posted April 25, 2014 Ya know there is another bracket attached to the hood AND it's attached to the other bracket. You may need both.
slammer302 2,154 #8 Posted April 25, 2014 I think so I will try to get a pic of what I have going on
Butch 194 #9 Posted April 25, 2014 The parts I have circled are called "bracket hood supports". Part number is 108588 The second part I talk about that is attached to the hood is called a "bracket hood pivot". There are two and they are different. The left side part number is 108590. The right side part number is 108589.
slammer302 2,154 #10 Posted April 25, 2014 I think the tabs are not even there
Butch 194 #11 Posted April 25, 2014 I think the tabs are not even there There are only 2 parts to each side. One part attaches to the tractor frame and the other piece attaches to the hood. If these are the parts Kelly may have them used for you.
slammer302 2,154 #12 Posted April 25, 2014 If you can get sum close up pictures and sum ruff measurements I probably can just make sum
Butch 194 #13 Posted April 25, 2014 Tomorrow I'll take one side off and trace them and take measurements.
squonk 38,989 #15 Posted April 25, 2014 There are also some bushings on those pivot bolts I believe
Butch 194 #16 Posted April 25, 2014 Mike. You're right. There is one on each side. Part number is a 108599 bushing and the places I checked show it's discontinued. I guess you can come up with something else to work. I'm gonna see if I can get a copy of the manual and post it here.
Butch 194 #17 Posted April 26, 2014 Slammer do you have access to a fax? I can fax the info to ya and the size of the drawing should be exact. You won't need a bushing if you use a larger size bolt and drill one hole bigger. You can figure it out.
