Wheel Horse 48" snow blade

Recommended Posts

Hello there!

I have a 48" snow blade. After a long hard winter, I decided to rehab the blade. I installed a new release cable for the pivot mechanism. I reattached everything just the way the old cable was installed. Now the cable will not operate smoothly. Same length as the original. When I pull on the cable the sheathing moves as well as the cable. No apparent binding on the cable or the sheath. Any idea's ?

maybe you need to clampdown the outer sheath to hold the in place then the cable will move freely.

Rick: I replaced all the original clamps with automotive "P" clamps which are rubber cushioned and grip stronger than the original metal clamps. But, the outer cable still slides. I did go back and re-used the metal clamps and I still get the slippage. Thanks for the suggestion, I will keep trying other clamps until I solve the problem. At least no more snow for awhile....

Garry: My model # is 79350. Thanks!

Pull the pin by hand to make sure the pin that locks into the quadrant moves freely... Maybe that is being bound up if you repainted things?

Hi Brandon,

The pin moves freely when I pull on it. I did't repaint the blade or quadrant. I did lubricate the pin. My next plan is to loosen the clamps a bit. It may be that there is too much pressure on the cable and the outer sheathing, when I depress the handle, the entire cable and sheathing move. So, the quest continues!

Thanks for the suggestion.

Dave
