Hey guys, put the battery in the tractor and got it to turn once or twice . Since then nothing. Like dead. It did turn strong for a couple seconds. charged the battery. The test button for the indicator lights works but I have no headlights. No reading on the volt meter either when I turn the key on...not sure where to start...maybe contacts? I did put 3 new fuses in it...thanx for any ideas and help...Gee in Canada

If you don't have power to headlights or starter, you  probably don't have power to the switch.   Or the switch is bad and not passing power to the accessorys in the run position and the starter in the start position.     You need a volt- -ohm meter to check the switch.

Would anyone have a part number for the ignition switch for a 416-H?

Got a tractor model number? I don't know if all the 416-H's use the same switch or not. Better to be sure. I could look at all 10 models/years but don't have the time right now.

The original ignition switch 111216 has been replaced by 103990. Very common switch.

The 73421 was sold 1993-1996. The 1st number in the serial number represents the model year.

Do you have a test light or voltmeter to check out the electrical?

Clean the ground wire connections. At the battery, where the  battery connects to frame or block, solenoid and starter ground wires  at  the front of the engine.  Have you checked the switch and cleaned the switch terminals yet ?

.do these switches go often?

Yes, about every 15-20 years.
