CasualObserver 3,406 #1 Posted September 16, 2008 I came across something that puzzled me today. I'd never noticed it before, but I have a copy of a manual for a 706. This is apparently another model that doesn't exist. My copy of the manual is not the greatest, but it definitely is for a 706, and the parts list says 706 as well. I've checked the Toro lookup and the online parts lookups at Parts tree and Milaca Lawn. None of them have it either. It's not listed in the spreadsheet of models by year. Can anyone shed some light on this one?
stevinator 1 #2 Posted September 16, 2008 Jason that was probably the tractor at the sale we thought went for too much. :banghead:
kj4kicks 151 #3 Posted September 16, 2008 I believe Busby, Glasgow is in England. Perhaps it was an "export only" model?
Jim_M 178 #4 Posted September 16, 2008 Glasgow is in Scotland. I'm amazed that they sold Wheel Horses there. I learn something new every day.
Buzz 502 #5 Posted September 16, 2008 Someone from the British Isles was asking on another forum when the first Wheel Horses were exported. That's one of the earliest ones although in the book I think they said that RJs were exported to Spain and kept breaking their front axles. Good find Jason. you probably have Garry drooling with your unusual manual :banghead:
linen beige 14 #6 Posted September 16, 2008 I have one! Well, actually, what I have is a 704 that a PO relettered (with black friction tape) as a 706. A few weeks ago I mentioned this in chat and someone posted links to pics of the real model 706. Wish I could recall who it was. If I recall correctly this was an export model? BPjunk 184 #7 Posted September 16, 2008 The 706 was a UK only tractor, it had a 6hp Kohler instead of a Tecumseh. Wild Bill in Richmond, Va.
Duff 206 #8 Posted September 16, 2008 Were the controls reversed on the 706 to accomodate left side of the road driving ? Duff (Good natured apologies to our British members, but I just couldn't resist!)
CasualObserver 3,406 #9 Posted September 16, 2008  guess I should use my own advice and use the SEARCH button! http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=4698 So... Crille... do you need a copy of the manual? PM me your email address. Wonder where the heck I was when this conversation happened the first time? :omg:
sorekiwi 761 #10 Posted September 16, 2008 The 706 was a UK only tractor, it had a 6hp Kohler instead of a Tecumseh. Wild Bill in Richmond, Va. Which proves the English aren't as dumb as we think they are... :USA:
Crille68 1 #11 Posted September 16, 2008 WOW!!! An original manual for a export model found in U.S?! It would be "swell" to get a copy of that one. I have been a bit "slow" and lacy lately so I don't have any nice new pictures of my 706 but I have been using it and bought a new trailer. Pictures... With my Kohler 8 Magnum I thing my tractor is like a "big block hemi hot rod" Wheel Horse. I mean it is really super strong. :horseplay: I'll PM you my e-mail "jschahl" - right the way!
