Nathanielperz 150 #1 Posted April 8, 2014 Hey guys i need help with what kind of oil i need for my k 301. I know you need different oil for different climates and its been in the 40-50 range lately. (but in New England the weather can change from 55f to 20f in a day) Anyway with the weather getting warmer i need to know what kind of oil i need. The poor tractor hasnt had an oil change in over 15 years! Thanks in advance, Nate
rmaynard 15,383 #2 Posted April 8, 2014 I use straight SAE 30W year round. Book says 30W above freezing, 10W30 below. Temps have been freezing or below here all winter. I did a lot of snow plowing and the B-100 had absolutely no problem with the straight 30W oil.
Nathanielperz 150 #3 Posted April 8, 2014 isn't there a number in front of the 30 W? like 10w 30 or 5w 30?
rmaynard 15,383 #4 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) Nope, straight 30W. Edited April 8, 2014 by rmaynard

gregg'shorses 77 #6 Posted April 9, 2014 If it hasn't been changed in 15 years it would be good to run some 10w30 in it for about 10 min to get nice and hot then chance right away. I like to add a wee bit, about a fifth of a small can Wynn's Motor Flush and let it run for about 5-10 min.
