I got this WH off of CL for free, The PO said that it stopped one day while mowing an has sat for a couple years. I can get it to start and idle for a while then it dies. When it dies what appears to be fuel spurts out of what I the oil breather tube. So my question is, is thus normal? I can see where this might be a normal thing to aid in restarting the engine. I just noticed this today while Woking on it. It also Started smoking, a lot.

Gassy oil in the crank case and probably the carburetor is dirty and needs cleaning is what it sounds like to me.

Thanks for the response. I was planning on pulling the carburetor anyway.

It was the fuel pump. Found a replacement on EBay for $25. Start runs high down to idle and stopped smoking.
