I have had a suburban in it already.... Well, most of one.

My wife is going with me... She's pretty supportive of my addictions... lol

We're going to make a weekend getaway out of the trip, we have'nt been anywhere (without the kids) for about 8 years.... But, no room for them this time.. lol

A hitch wouldn't be a bad idea! I'll have to look into the towing capacity of the Caliber.... I don't see these roadtrips stopping anytime soon. :horseplay:

You know... I WAS regretting picking up that diesel truck... BUT now that its cheaper than gas again... makes me kinda glad I did... paid 3.85 Saturday when gas was over 4..

Same here. My wife thought for some strange reason a man only ever needed one (1) tractor Go figure! I let her in on my intenions of have a "Few" more of the pony's around. She gave me one of the "wife" looks and then said "At least it's cheaper and smaller than collecting rare cars again" :banana: :banana: :banana: So now as I travel the back roads Im looking in back yards and weeds for anything "RED" :banghead:

I took a few measurment for you, to the top of the steering wheel 36" but your wheel is upside down to mine so that is 34" still to tall to fit in your car, and it is 30" wide and 5' long

but....

What the hell, I was in New Jersey this morning where gas was $3.25/gal and cigarettes were $6.60/pack.

I get home to Indiana and gas is $4.15/gal and cigarettes $4.30/pack.

I'm getting really pi$$ed about all this oil company profiteering.

To get back on topic... Jon, I'd pull both those tractors down enough so they fit, even if you spend another day away, you'll come out ahead in what you save in gas. And you were probably going to pull them apart as soon as you got home anyway...

If I get the 551 too, I'll still have to drive to Kokomo to deliver the B-100..... So, I'll probably just wait 'til it gets to Kokomo.... That will give the wife and I some more time to sight-see.... Dropping the tranny aint a bad idea, but dropping the front axle would also work and might be easier. A piece of quarter inch plywood or eigth inch Masonite would protect your carpet better than cardboard, and any oil/grease that may spill won't soak through. What ever you do, strap it in. I'd hate to see it jump into the front with you if you have to slam on the brakes.

This is a perfect example of where logistics would work. For example, if there is no deadline to get the item from point A to B, then think about this. Would it work if a board member were close to the item, pick it up in PA in this case and head west to the next nearest member who would do the same and so on. Eventually, it would make it to IN or the buyer would make the last leg of the trip heading east. If fuel prices stay the same or keep going up, people are going to have to get creative. Just a thougt.

Well, we made it!!!! We left at 11:00 pm last night and got back at 5:00 pm tonight.... WOW, what a drive! Wold have been great if I hadn't been fighting a sinus headache the WHOLE way.... But, otherwise, it was a GREAT trip!

Also, since the gas prices stabilized a bit... I only spent $100 in fuel!!!

Here is the old girl after taking her "shoes" off, for a relaxing (but cramped) ride back home to Indiana....

It was a TIGHT fit, but it all fit pretty well.... I think we would have had trouble fitting the 551 in there....

NOTE: all of that oil on the floor was from a vehicle that was parked in the garage... she didn't bleed... LOL

Here she is at home, and all pieced back together... (what pieces I do have anyhow)

The tires are LIKE NEW!!! (I know they're not original, but I'd rather them not be all dry rotted than original and dryrotted)

Also, the gas tank is REMARKABLY clean...

Glad it made it home safe and sound. Those could be original tires. My 603 has GENERAL brand Garden Tractor tires exactly like those on it.

Mine also has the very same tire's, Glad you made the trip safe and sound, and gas didn't kill the trip, I will be bugging you in the next few days for some detailed shots of that beauty.

Glad you had a good trip. And those tires may not be original, but they're correct. Those BF Goodrich Silvertowns haven't been available in that size for at least twenty years, maybe longer.

WOW, that is AWESOME on the tires!!!!

The rears, after a good cleaning and a bath of armorall, will be like SHOWROOM condition. I have never seen anything like it... They are ABSOLUTELY perfect! they still have part of the "****" on them!

The fronts have some VERY slight dry rot... I better get the armorall on them! What brand/ style of tires do y'alls 603's have on them?

I found a local guy that has a short frame belt guard and a bunch of misc. pieces that I need for the 603 AND the 1045! So, I am off to the local trader's fair to make a little WH $!!!! Then, this evening, I'M GOING SHOPPING FOR PARTS!!!!
