pacer 3,177 #1 Posted March 15, 2014 In the post about "whats a K-175 worth" the belt guard is mentioned as being for a vac system - was this guard possibly used for other rear implements? For instance a tiller? A few days ago groundhog47 and I made another drive down to our horse grave yard and I brought back a C-160 and a C-161, the C-161 has one of these 'special' belt guards on it along with a 'clutch' apparatus on the side of the Sundstrand drive and a rather long belt still attached. Groundhog thinks it might have been for driving a tiller?? Was this guard and drive mechanism included in the purchase of a vac, or tiller, or? Was it a dealer set-up or could the owner buy a "kit" (I gave $100 for them to get the trannys - the 8 speed and the Sundstrand, the 160 has no motor and the 161 only has a gutted shell)
Hodge71 665 #2 Posted March 15, 2014 That looks different than the one on my Dads 12 Automatic for driving the impeller for the lawn vacuum. I believe his went all the way to the back of the footrest and also moved the footrest away from the tractor frame. It had to captive threaded inserts that the side of the footrest bolted to.... I'm sure Kelly can shed some light on things
groundhog47 347 #3 Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) This is a way older unit 4 VIII looks similar and indicates added on to accommodate tensioner and belt. Poss PO made a cover for older tiller, but I'll keep lookin' Well obviously you are correct very near (if not) same guard. Score Bill 1, Gerry 0. At least you have a prob rare guard and pulley tensioner under right fender. Here a really good ipl page 2 of 3 Edited March 15, 2014 by groundhog47
