Torino 15 #1 Posted March 12, 2014 The steering on my C-175 seems to hard. I have greased everything but it did not seem to make a difference. I have an Electro, 520H and 520hi and the C steering is worst of all. Is there anything I can do?
bitten 134 #2 Posted March 12, 2014 I would inspect everything. Maybe jacking the front end up and try to steer it and see if there is anything that is binding up.
daveoman1966 3,839 #3 Posted March 12, 2014 Front tires too soft? Tie rods bent or binding? Grease lower end of steering shaft at the gear 'knuckle' (often missed)?
bmsgaffer 2,053 #4 Posted March 12, 2014 Grease lower end of steering shaft at the gear 'knuckle' (often missed)? Ive been dealing with wheel horses for more than 20 years and it wasn't until I was disassembling my restoration project that I found that grease zerk. Of course the bushing there is completely worn out because the previous owners never found it either. As stated above, I would check the tire pressure, then what bitten suggested about jacking the front end up.
SousaKerry 503 #5 Posted March 12, 2014 Steering parts on the C-175 should be nearly identical if not the same as the Electro. Disassemble clean and inspect re-grease.
