amewshaw 0 #1 Posted March 8, 2014 Im new to this but want to get a tractor and restore it as a project, i found one on craigslist for 200 bucks but i think i could get it for 150. Would this be a good deal? What model do you guys think this tractor is? Can you tell if anything major is missing?
Sparky-(Admin) 23,831 #2 Posted March 8, 2014 Its a Lawn Ranger, should have a6hp Tecumseh motor. looks original and unmolested except for the straight pipe. Not sure about missing parts....does it inculde any attachments? I dont see any deck attachment hardware. Does it run? If she runs I think $150 tops. Mike............ pfrederi 19,020 #3 Posted March 8, 2014 It is a Lawn Ranger. Great little tractor for chores. I would guess L157 or L156.. Would have to see belt guard to be sure. Steering wheel is other clue but that one isn't original. My father bought mine in May 67 been working ever since. Does teh engine at least turn over? Hammerhead 817 #5 Posted March 8, 2014 Looks like a 1965, 1966 or 1967 Lawn Ranger. There should be a metal Id tag on the dash tower on one side or the other. You will have to bend down to see it, it is under the hood a little bit. What ever the Model Number is will tell you the year. L-105 or L-155 would be a 1965, L-106 or L-156 would be a 1966 and a L-107 or L-157 would be a 1967. It is an electric start Model so it would be either a L-155, L-156 or a L157. I'd say go get her before somebody else does. $200 would be the top price I would pay if ya had attachments but shoot for a lot less. Good luck with it....KJ
