honestcharlie56 1 #1 Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) Just got this ol 753 running and on the first time out I broke one the the spindles on the belly mower. No biggie, bought one of here thanks to the great people here and threw her in. My problem now is when I tighten down the bolt holding the blades in place it freezes up the spindle. Any clues as to what I screwed up? Edited March 5, 2014 by honestcharlie56
slammer302 2,156 #2 Posted March 5, 2014 You need a thinner shim on the flat bearing
honestcharlie56 1 #3 Posted March 5, 2014 i wasnt even aware there were shims, i saw on a parts diagram that the flat bearing was sandwiched between two washers but when I took mine apart it didnt have either of the washers....

Those washers are bearing races supplied by the same makers as the flat needle bearings. Suspect they are much harder than a washer. Have a Torrington bearing catalog somewhere. Will try to post the pages. Wonder if it has the correct spindle cup? Garry
