wheelhorse66 10 #26 Posted March 3, 2014 And how do you know if it is out of time?
boovuc 1,090 #27 Posted March 3, 2014 Yes. On the timing, the points settings either retards, advances or TDC's the timing. There should be manuals on the Kohler engines available for download here that can direct you.

Ed Kennell 41,802 #29 Posted March 8, 2014 If you pull the plug and ground it firmly to the block, do you have good fire at the plug when you crank the engine ? If no, forget the fuel and fix the ignition. If yes, forget the ignition and fix the fuel problem. Fuel ... Pull the line off the carb, and while holding it in a can, crank the engine. If you have good consistent spurts of fuel, the problem is in the carb. Pull the jets and flush the seats and jets with carb cleaner. Install the jets and set to factory specs. Check that the carb gasket is good and the two bolts are tight. Crank it and it will run if you have fire and fuel. Just my Good Luck
wheelhorse66 10 #30 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) Ok will do this tomorrow, thinks for all the replies.I can get it to run but it spits, sputters, and backfires out the carb then cuts off,it starts fine but the carb won't adjust,I'm going to check fuel pump tomorrow and let yaw know how it goes.
