pezsox 31 #1 Posted February 22, 2014 how much oil should vent from the small breather hole on the front of the engine? I am getting more than I think I would have anticipated. What would cause this?
buckrancher 2,694 #2 Posted February 22, 2014 none no oil should be coming out of the breather vent not being assembled right or badly worn rings

pezsox 31 #4 Posted February 22, 2014 quite possibly both could be correct. LOL. I got the engine running and cleaned and painted, but really did not put any work into the interior of the engine. I literally just got it running, so maybe I will let it "break itself in" and check back. thanks as always
pezsox 31 #5 Posted February 24, 2014 can someone let me know how much oil should be put into the engine. I thought it was 1.5 quarts. It is not leaking when it sits, only leakin when it runs. I think I have it narrowed down to the valve cover/breather vent. It is the first time I got it running for any duration, and it runs great, just making a mess. I did not rebuild or put rings in it, I just got the carb cleaned, painted, and put it back on. Is there a rebuild kit available, and how much would that be or anyone have a suggestion of who to get it from. If I dismantle it, I want to do it right with the right parts. and have someone local do the machining or whatever for me.

pezsox 31 #8 Posted February 24, 2014 I am going to go home and get look at the dipstick and see if it is way over. I hope it is just that, I am not an engine man.
pezsox 31 #9 Posted February 25, 2014 at this point it is too late to start my engine, but... I think I used 1.5 quarts instead of 1.5 pints - so hopefully I will know more tomorrow. You guys have forgotten more than I will ever know.
