pezsox 31 #1 Posted February 22, 2014 I have a Kohler K91 that I am having an issue with. I have 2 wires that come from underneath the flywheel. One goes to the sparkpluge and the other goes to the points. I then have 1 wire that goes from the points to the switch on the dash. I thought I had a bad switch so I went and got a replacement. The "original" only had one wire hookup terminal. I hooked it up exactly as it was but now the switch still does not turn the tractor off when moved into the off position. Is there supposed to be 2 wires? A ground? are the points bad? I assume the points are good since the tractor runs fine. When I push down on the "stop" button on the points cover that doesnt always stop the engine either. Any suggestions?
buckrancher 2,694 #2 Posted February 22, 2014 check the wiring at the points for a bad connection also is the new switch you bought a self grounding switch and if it is besure you are getting a good ground thru the switch body to the hood to the frame of the tractor Brian
Jake Kuhn 1,579 #3 Posted February 22, 2014 yep, as brian said you probably need a ground. Most of the new switches all have the 2 terminals. I usually run the ground to the points cover.
Eboy 38 #4 Posted February 22, 2014 On my rj-58 the on/off switch had one of the two terminals was soldered so it was grounded.
