Joefrommi65 18 #1 Posted February 20, 2014 I tried to use my electric lift today and it just quit working is there a way to test it or can I convert it back to manual lift.I traced the wires they are all attached unplugged them and repluged them in, checked the switch it seems to work as it should, maybe I am missing something . I tried to reserch it here but didnt come up with anything. Thanks Joe
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,495 #2 Posted February 20, 2014 Go into the Manuals and do a search for Lift Electric Believe some of the operator manuals have diagnostics. Garry
eddiebunyan 24 #3 Posted February 20, 2014 I had an electric lift on my c-160 and it worked great till it got cold out(middle of winter in Maine)!I left it attatched.Took the push arm off(under the foot board) and had to change the lift mechanism under the tractor to a manual one,put the lift arm on and now it never fails. Terry M-(Moderator) 2,237 #5 Posted February 21, 2014 I was thinking some day of converting to an electric Lift on one of my tractors, But didn't know they could be an issue in cold weather…
Joefrommi65 18 #6 Posted February 21, 2014 Not sure of the model # of the lift but its a 416-8 1990 I am thinking the lift is model number 8-4223 or 8-4224
eddiebunyan 24 #7 Posted February 21, 2014 Mine is a c-160 1974 model#1-0380 electric lift model#8-4221
Joefrommi65 18 #8 Posted February 21, 2014 Thanks for all replys, I removed the complete cylinder and took it to work cleaned everything put new greae on the gears bench tested good got home and still no luck. Looks like something in the electrical circuit. ....soon as the weather breaks alittle going to start looking for a bad ground or relay.I know I probably should have started there first but I dont think i like the idea of electrical issues .I am with Eddie I like reliability on the manual lift. eddiebunyan 24 #9 Posted February 22, 2014 What tractor is this on? I have an original 8-4421 electric lift parts manual wihich includes the electrical diagram if you can't get one off of "Toro.com". If it worked on the bench then your power from the battery is being interupted,or like you say,you are getting power to the cylinder but not completing the circuit by grounding. With a tester you should be able to jump from the power wire that goes to the cylinder, and ground to the frame and that would tell you if you are indeed getting power to the cylinder. The black wire from the switch goes to ground. Joefrommi65 18 #10 Posted February 22, 2014 Thanks Eddie, I tried toro.com again last night and found that I hsd to drop th dash mark between the 4 and the 8 for that to work on there web site and after rereading g-west's post I searched the manual section and serched lift electric instead of electric lift and found the manual here on our website . Thanks again for everyone s help.
