Implement Lever Button

With a single stage snowblower mounted I have a hard time getting the implement lever to release (drop). The button will not push down, even when I pull back on the lever. Any tips/tricks? Thanks

I usually try to place some lubricant once a year in the areas of the lift handle and the  rockshaft (in the frame of the tractor under the tower) so that  it does not rust or bind up.   Mt  1967 Lawn Ranger has a spring on the outside of the  lift handle that is easy to access to grease. 

 

The later model tractors had the spring on the inside of the handle at the lower end.    Greasing or lubricating should help with lift.   You could also have an alignment /binding issue with some of your other parts.   Have someone else lift while you look at lower lift handle movement .

Do you have a lift assist spring for the snowblower??  It attaches under the tractor to help raise it.

It moves very freely but seems like it gets caught occasionally. I do not have a spring assist, is there a photo for reference? Thanks!

I have had this problem in the past.  For me it turns out I've bent the lift arm itself near the base and it causes the button "rod" to bind.  I put a big pipe over the lift arm and bend her back to straight.  After doing this 3 times I finally welded a support around the base to strengthen the arm.

This 'Special OEM' Lift Spring will make a big improvement in the lifting of the snowthrower.

Also check underneath to see if any lift parts are touching-binding, many of those hookups can be on the right or left, if on the wrong side it might be binding and not allowing you to lift slightly to release the button.

What model tractor?? I'm guessing a 78 or newer machine, they have more problems with that.
