snowblower id help

Recommended Posts

Well I bought an unseen 42" single stage snow thrower today that came off a 520 h the id sticker is gone it has the tall gear driven chute, when I was getting ready to leave he told me to meet him at his shed to grab the brand new tire chains and wheel weights....... didn't even know he had them, asked him the price on all he told me $200.00 so I bought it. I got it home and the only thing I found wrong was the chain is a little sloppy,so my question is was that a good deal and is there any chain adjustment or is it time for a new chain(what size chain)and where might I find a manually for this......Thanks in advance.

under the manuals tab, this is over 100 snowthrower manuals, parts listing etc.  you can tighten up the chain. on the other side of the chain there is a nut and you have to reach into the chain area to secure the bolt head, loosen the nut and this will spread the chain to tighten it up then tighten down the nut.  you can replace the chain either from Toro or hardware store chain.  there are multiple posts. use the excellent Search tool.

The tall chute was first used on the 1991 snowthrower model 06-42ST07 for the long frame tractors and on 1991 model 06-42SS01 for the 200-Series tractors.

Found an interesting detail about the parts. Toro used them on their walking 826 and 1132 snowthrowers prior to 1991 and was available in a kit to update those models that did not have it. Did not check to see when they changed but the manual has a 1977 date and revised in 1987.

The chain is standard #40 roller chain you can buy a roll at most TSC stores or the likes. one 10' roll will do a blower 2 times, they also carry the gear idler sprockets, for #40 chain but I think have one more tooth but no big deal.

Yes you get a very good deal tall shoot blowers are in the $300 range or more, weights and chains even the plastic weights are another $100+
