Will a starter on a 10 hp Kohler work on my 1968 charger 12s k301 12 hp motor? Any response is appreciated!

Should fit just fine.  As far as I know (and if I am wrong I will get corrected) the only starters for single cylinders that are not interchangeable are 16hp because they have a lower gear ratio for  more torque. To be absolutely sure count the number of teeth on each if they are the same your good to go.

10HP and 12HP blocks are nearly identical, they use a different crank and may have a different fin count.

The high mount starter fits the 10, 12 and I think the 14 hsp Kohler.  There are 2 different counts on the starter teeth...both should work just fine.  :)

Just asking 'cause I don't know, but would these engines have a bendix type starter or a starter/generator?

It is just a starter...called a high mount because the mount is below the starter...:)

They made a few Chargers with starter/gens. Don't know the number, but not many.

Early 68 had starter/gen the latter ones are gear drive starters. and yes all big block high mount starters will interchange, even if a different tooth count.
