The Perfect Storm (of break downs)

Recommended Posts

Finally got a decent snowfall so I could try out the 418-8 with a snowblower but Murphy's Law kicked in bigtime.  The PTO clutch was slipping but when I tried to adjust it the adjustment was tight so I took my leatherman to use the plyers, so you know I couldn't put a lot on it, and the rod broke.  From the looks of it the rod has been cracked for a while.  Got the GT1100 out to plow and promply broke the drive belt at the bottom of the driveway.  I as able to tow it back to the tent barn with the 418 but that leaves me with a shovel and about 8" of snow and still snowing..

Does anyone know it the PTO clutch rod for the GT1100 will work in th 418?

i don't know

do they look about the same length and shape?

if so i would give it a shot

it may be a gamble, but it should not take too long to get them swapped out

to me it would beat all that shoveling you are looking at

The GT-1100 pto rod was 108826. This has been replaced by 111052 which fits the 314-8. There is another 111802 listed but these ipl's are shared and it may be a chromed one for the 420-LSE model.

Thanks for the replys, I was able to "fix" the broken one. There were threads letf on the rod and broken part so I made a coupling by drilling out and tapping a short length of 3/4" rod it isn't pretty by it works.
