What's wrong with this picture??

I found this on Craigs list and was interested in it until the owner sent more detailed pictures. Just does not look right to me. Almost looks like WH tins mounted on another tractor.

Is it just me? I have only been into these for a short time but my gut says something is rotten in Denmark.

that is a vertical shaft wheel horse cant tell the model, as when i click on the pictures they come out blurry :banghead:

it is a wheel horse 8 4 speed from what i can read off the side decals and the pictures came out crystal clear on my machine. it is a vert engined machine as POND said and looks to be in fair shape.

That is what the tank badge says... a 8 - 4speed. It's a 1973 vertical shaft 8HP tractor. 1973 was the year of no-names.

it's one of these two models depending on which transmission is in it.

You hit it on the nose Jason.

It looks like its in decent shape, but some one has touched up the paint. You can tell by th overspray on the dash, and the red seat back. The steel seat pan should be black.

Is the blade the only attachment that goes with it? I as the vert guy wouldn't give $200 for it. Although I haven't ever seen the 8hp 4 speed in person. I do have a piece of paper that tells me what they cost new, and its only a little over twice that with the blade and chains. Just my .02 though. If you want to know anymore about the tractor feel free to ask.

It looks like the engine may have been replaced at some point in it's life. The color of the engine is wrong for a Wheel Horse.

Once again I am amazed by the knowledge emparted on this forum.

I am going to pick up a freebie tomorrow that looks to be maybe early 60s maybe right about the time they moved the motor to the front instead of the nust roasting position. I could not see it very well because of all the weeds surrounding the machine but supposedly it runs and who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Will post pics when I get her home.
