Shuboxlover 481 #1 Posted February 2, 2014 I recently acquired a a 1960 suburban 550 from a member here... I have many questions, but the first one is...did some of them/all of them come with electric start? Is the motor the only thing that differentiates the 400 and the 550?...no other differences? Which is a better motor is your opinions?...more desirable?? The tractor I bought has a H55B-1170 on it, but it has electric start.....I looked it over, and don't know where the battery would go? wallfish 18,100 #2 Posted February 2, 2014 All 550s should be electric start with the H55 engine from the factory The 400 and 550 are the same tractor with different engines, plus some small stuff for the electric start 550 (key switch, solenoid, wire harness, battery) The battery belongs in the toolbox under the seat.
