Rusty_Tractor 0 #1 Posted September 8, 2008 Hey guys, I did some searching in the archives but I didn't find any good tips on adding lights to older Horses. I have a 655 that I want to plow with this winter. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what lights will fit the tractor best? Thanks a lot, Jamie
DMESS 24 #2 Posted September 8, 2008 The lighting equipment that Wheel Horse originally made available for your 655 is next to impossible to find, but you could certainly fab something up as long as your not worried about it being 100% original. An idea I've seen executed from time to time is adding a later style headlight bucket to your non-headlight equipped hood. It looks close to factory and can be updated with halogen replacement bulbs. You could also add a pair of utility or driving lights like you find in the automotive dept. if you don't mind drilling holes or adding some mounting brackets. I've seen large single magnetic mount lights too which could work well as a temporary setup. This 857 was not originally equipped with lights but had a factory style light bucket added. Few would notice the difference or know better!
Rusty_Tractor 0 #3 Posted September 8, 2008 Thanks Dustin, I am not necessarily looking for a factory setup, 2 dome lights sticking out of the sides like the "Rat Rod tractor" will do. I have the capabilities to fabricate mounts at home. I'll see if anyone else has suggestions then go looking for a set of lights. The tractor in your picture looks just like mine, I like the factory light bezel in the hood, but i'm sure that is not a cheap option. Thanks again, Jamie
CasualObserver 3,411 #4 Posted September 8, 2008 I would recommend fabricating something like the HL-5 kit. You can get some good looks in the gallery under "Tractor Accessories. I never liked the HL-6 anyway... that's the kit for your tractor. I always thought it looked dumb. But you can judge for yourself.
pond195520032003 27 #5 Posted September 8, 2008 this might not be the way you want to go but its not permanent and can change it anytime this is the set up on my 1075! lights are bright aswell, actually brighter than the lights on my truck lights on
Rusty_Tractor 0 #6 Posted September 8, 2008 Hey, those are pretty cool! I kinda like the wide bug-eyed look. Reminds me of my grand father's old Ford tractors. Oops, can I say that here? I will try to find a set of suitable lights and start making up some bars similar to the HL-5. Thanks a lot guys, Jamie
