Retired Wrencher 5,787 #1 Posted January 25, 2014 The old girl runs like a top now. Plenty of power. I had to buy a new carb for the 657 the old one had a frozen Idle circuit. Some of u have seen the video of it just before the holidays. Also watch for bad fuel lines it was black inside the fuel was eating away at the rubber. So make sure the line that u put on is good to use today's fuel. will post video when whether clears up up starting to snow now. Also I have a new starter for in the mail. This tractor was under a porch for 25yrs or so it has had a noisy starter since I bought it. Take Care All Gary B..... zanepetty 117 #2 Posted January 25, 2014 Great to hear Garry. Glad its running good. I would like to see the video. I have a 753. My first horse and I'm restoring her. How do I maintain my starter? Its an ac delco . I guess its the same one you have?
Retired Wrencher 5,787 #3 Posted January 25, 2014 Zane the 657 has a standard starter yours has a S/Generator. I have had at 1 time 6 of these all I do do it put them on a trickle charger to keep the running. I have Been doing this for years now. it works. The parts you get with these are not up to the same quality that was once in them. So that is why the T/Charger. Enjoy the ride. zanepetty 117 #8 Posted January 26, 2014 If they make noise you just have to replace the bearings. Mine doesn't make noise I just wanted to tend to it while it was apart.
