Tom. 70 #1 Posted January 20, 2014 Hi, I was wondering if I could "convert" magnum 8 kohler engine to a k181 by changing the sheet metal? I know the magnum has a different type if ignition system too. I will also be wanting to use my starter generator on the magnum 8, is this possible? I'd appreciate any help as I'm a bit stuck on what to do! Tom
smoreau 658 #2 Posted January 20, 2014 in short story, No There is no place to mount the points on a magnum. You would need to change the flywheel and that takes the front cover and magneto out of the picture.
pj1960 11 #3 Posted January 20, 2014 Somebody told me today you can make the K181 into electronic ignition with a coil like the Briggs uses. Is that true?
smoreau 658 #4 Posted January 20, 2014 Yes, but you need the correct coil and flywheel, it still uses the points to trigger it.
