1989520HC 13 #1 Posted January 13, 2014 I need to change the starter on my M-12. How do you get the tube out of the block? The starter bolt is right behind the tube..
TT-(Moderator) 1,128 #2 Posted January 13, 2014 3 small "screws" hold the tube to the block. You might be able to save the gasket if you're careful - and lucky. Helpful hint: removing the drive belt guard allows better access.
Fordiesel69 226 #3 Posted January 13, 2014 Magnum starters are a pain compared to k-series. Three small allen screws on the bottom will remove it.
can whlvr 991 #4 Posted January 14, 2014 they are slotted screws on my magnums ,remember to hold the starter together when you pull it off as the long screws that bolt it to the engine also hold the starter together
Wheel-N-It 2,967 #5 Posted January 14, 2014 I'm so glad I've never had to replace the starter on a Magnum. They look to be a PITA.
Fordiesel69 226 #6 Posted January 14, 2014 The good news is they are VERY reliable. Often lasting for 3 complete rebuilds of the engine.
