browntk 1 #1 Posted January 13, 2014 I grew up at home always having a 310-8 and loved it, finally got permission to go out and get a horse of my own. I would rather have a 310-8 or a 312-8 but came across a 252-H real cheap and it comes with a plow blade. what are the thoughts on these as i don't see much posted about them. wondering if i should just jump on this to have one with a plow for now and upgrade later or if i am better off not wasting my time. all I want it for is to move snow and drag a yard cart around the woods moving wood. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

If you just wanted to mow grass the 252 would be a good choice but if your planning on pushing snow and hauling stuff get a heavy duty machine. Mike.......... Kelly 1,033 #5 Posted January 13, 2014 Not sure what real cheap is, but if you can afford it, buy it for under $150 and use it till you find a real tractor, if you take care of it you should be able to get your money back later, but only if it is truly cheap, the 300 series is a far better machine. JackC 617 #6 Posted January 13, 2014 The 252H is a nice machine. It has a hydro transmission and electric PTO. I view mine as my yard dog and I use it to pull a wagon around and to do some mowing. The Kawasaki engines are very good. The 252H is lighter than the 300 series so not sure how good of a plow tractor it would be but it should beat shoveling. They are nice lawn mowers if it has a deck. The decks aren't that easy to find and they are different because the tractor has higher ground clearance that the 200 series tractors. Everyone here has a good point and if twenty more people reply at the end its probably going to be what you see here now. I think I paid around $200 for mine but I would not pay more than that for one. If I could own only one tractor it would not be the 252H. The 252H is a bit of an odd ball wheel horse. The 300 and 400 series are a much better tractor that you can do more with due to size, weight, and availability of parts and attachments. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
SousaKerry 502 #9 Posted January 13, 2014 If you do decide to look at it make sure it has the Eaton tranny as some of them had a Hydrogear that has a history of failure. I have a 242H(same thing lower horse power) sitting in storage that I got for free, and it was just a roller with a deck.
