wheelhorse66 10 #1 Posted January 12, 2014 My k181 flywheel is stuck,I took the but off and the flywheel is on there good,I put a puller on it but I think it was to small, but trying to get more options.
smoreau 658 #2 Posted January 12, 2014 use the correct puller! But if that's not a option, you can reinstall the nut flush with the end of the crank and use a pry bar between the block and flywheel and hit the end of the crank with a hammer, Caution this is not the correct way, but it will work in a pinch but may damage the crank. Red-Bovine 334 #4 Posted January 13, 2014 Try some mild heat on the flywheel with a propane torch near the crank but not on it. Red

Fordiesel69 271 #6 Posted January 13, 2014 Guys, These flywheels will kill you if / when they explode. Do not try hack methods to remove. Buy / rent a puller. Thread the bolts into the 2 holes of your choice, apply a bit of heat to the flywheel not the shaft and pull. If it does not come off, let it cool completely and try again. A small stress crack in the cast iron will equal an explosion. Its just a matter of "when".
bewford 21 #7 Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) I almost always use the pry bar and a BRASS hammer method, but get a nut from the hardware store, I ruined a couple of the specialty nuts before I learned this. Almost always a little pressure a pry bar and couple good wacks and it's off. Edited January 14, 2014 by bewford
