rdmanone 29 #3 Posted January 12, 2014 I've got a 73 wheel horse 12 automatic. I run propane in it without a regulator. The regulator makes the throttle much easier to operate. All I did was put a hole in the cleaner cover and stick the fuel hose about 3/4 of an inch down into the carb. It runs very well just you have two throttles. One for the fuel valve on the tank and the carb throttle is used as the air fuel mix. It's touchy but works. I can leave my Wheel horse untouched to a long time and don't have to worry about the carb being gummed up by gas.

546cowboy 302 #5 Posted January 12, 2014 I had a Charger 12 last year that had been converted to propane. I did convert it back because of the fact, where are you going to put the propane tank? I built a platform with a receiver hitch for the back of the tractor. I really didn't care for not being able to use the hitch for anything else. I do still have all the parts though. That system had two regulators. One at the propane connection and one just below the carb in front of the engine. Another draw back would be, would it start in the winter when it's 0? bewford 21 #6 Posted January 14, 2014 see this link. http://www.propane-generators.com/kohler.htm Yeah I have looked at their kits seem complete, good quality, and reasonable priced I had a Charger 12 last year that had been converted to propane. I think they do, it seems that it is a common option on generators. And they get used in the winter, but Mayberry they have some sorta heater.

bewford 21 #8 Posted January 15, 2014 not quite sure if this is what you mean by running on gas No sir talking about propane, lp, autogas. I have seen the gas in that video before on trucks, I think they called it wood gas or gasification something like that. That's a neat setup, on the horse.
