Hello everyone very glad to be here. I have had only one WH a 257h that I had to sell a few years ago but always dreamed of owning another WH.

Out of the blue the otner day a guy was talking to me and said he had a pair of WHs out in the yard I could have for 150.00 and would throw in a running old Snapper rider. I have not seen them in pherson but picking them up this weekend hopefully. The pics he emailed me are of complete 857s but look terrible sitting under leaves and other junk. I can imagine how great they will be again with a little love and cleaning. Said one needed deck work like a bearing the other tractor was operating when last used over 5 years ago. I am so excited I can hardly sleep at night thinking of them. Does anyone know how I can view a manual? I tried the yahoo groups manual thing but dont understand how it works. Since I am new it might take some trying but I will post up the pics I have.

I was able to add the pics. Yeah they look horrible but lots of potential there. Those old Kohlers should fire right up with some minor tinkering. The deck is not attached because of some problem. My plan I think will be to build one nice tractor from the best parts from the two. He said sheet metal was very straight on both.

Well right off the bat I see that both starter-generator belt covers are there. If both drive belt guards are there, you will have what most non-running 857's are missing most of the time!

The K181 is an easy engine to get running if it isn't blown to begin with and the trannie's in the 857's are very strong. Between two machines, my guess is you'll have one running in no time. Please check back in and let us know how you made out!

Thanks guys.Forgot to mention both have the cable lift on the back too. I have a couple of other pics where you can see it. Story is these were used at an airport until the current owner got them for free and he never used them at all just hauled em home and parked them.

I looked but all I saw was a wiring thing for the 857. Wanted to read up on the owners manual if possible and something on the 36 rd deck.

Looks like you have two nice little projects to get your teeth into , this is a great site for lots of information & you will have those up & running in no time

The tractor on the left looks like it has the steering wheel off of a Lawn Ranger .

Good luck with your projects
