OK guys still thinking, if already don't see the smoke billowing from this post LOL, ok my thought was to take a 120 auto set up cylinder and valve bank other then the tranny to hook up now if I found a small power steering pump to use and run off the pulley would it work?

there is a similar topic I just read and if you can add a reservoir to it it could work, you will have to mount the pump and run it from the implement pullie on the pto,or figure out how to run it with the drive belt, but that seems more difficult, remember that if you are going to run a thrower or mower you need that pullie, not saying it cant work just throwing stuff out there, remember to check the rotation of the power steering pump to locate it correctly, and you may need to work on where to hook the cylinder, some would say it might be easier to find a hydro model tractor to rob parts from,or get a running hydro, but it could be done

The paper version of the Grainger catalog used to have a pretty good section on hydraulic system design and function, don't know If they even print a paper catalog anymore.  Parker fluid power also prints a series of books/catalogs with tons of good information and how to size components, do some research and then take a trip to the salvage yard, your question about power steering pumps is yes they should work, rotation is critical to operation but many late model pumps lend themselves to remote reservoir setups.

The Toro 270h has a electric hydraulic pump that I think may work... I have a topic on here that also is on fire. haha.   I'm waiting for the pump to come for N.C.   I think it works with a three pole switch.  I hope to hook hose to a cylinder off a C120 and rise and lower with a switch.  I'll keep you posted if will work or not
