Austin860 82 #1 Posted January 6, 2014 I was plowing 2 days ago and the tractor was running great. I was pushing 8 inches no problem with my weights and chains. On the 5th driveway it started rubbing funny. Then it started dying in and out. The key switch caught on fire(lol) so I put that out, and out a new switch on. I felt around and some owners were really hot. I don't want run it again with this problem what might it be? It runs still just with choke and throttle all over the place. Snows on the way.....HELP
Desko 624 #2 Posted January 6, 2014 The governor linkages may be bent causing it to run all over the place. As for running on choke the carb needs cleaned and adjusted. The fire problem is probably a raw wire grounding out and getting hot or a bad connection check all you wires and connections.
pfrederi 18,679 #3 Posted January 6, 2014 If you need to choke it to keep it running it may be because of the extreme cold and you need to open the power needle on the carb a bit. (You probably adjusted the carb originally in warmer weather. cold air is very dense and she may need a bit more gas in the mixture. (Also could be a dirty carb) When it was down to 3 degrees this my Case VAC (farm tractor) needed a little choke to plow well. Finally turned the power need 1/8 turn richer and she was much happier. Austin860 82 #5 Posted January 6, 2014 Alright. I'll check out the linkages. Just cleane the carb and rebuilt it. As for the wires it needs to clear 15 degrees before I go cabs in electrical problems haha. Thanks much
