876wheelhorse 46 #1 Posted January 6, 2014 well if anyone is watching the weather there was a big snow storm today. i live in nw ohio abd they are saying somewhere around 10 inches fell. i have a john deere 210 with a blower and a c141 with a blade. i was out maybe hour and half. used the deere first got majority out of way then clean up with the c141. all i have to say with my 195 pound butt and tire chains no wheel weights this thing can push some serious snow. it was kinda wet snow to boot. this has the hydro lift and a automatic. i just couldnt believe how much this could push and it never bogged down motor a bit. 2 things that need attention it starts very hard it needs a carb rebuild kit wants to backfire through carb. and the other i have no idea what it is but i seen this last year but still cant pin point it but under hard pushing i see a glowing under neath tractor. its usually like a welding glow light blueish. cant seem to figure that out . i am trying to keep these 2 machines going as long as possible trying to avoid that trip to a dealership.... Desko 624 #2 Posted January 6, 2014 The glowing might be something rubbing underneath the tractor and getting hot. And the carb does need cleaning and adjusting.
dodgemike 52 #3 Posted January 6, 2014 If the carb acting up it could be Running lean. That will make the Exhaust glow. Just like the chrome On Harley pipes.. Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk
Desko 624 #4 Posted January 6, 2014 Yes that could make it glow or you may have a bad exhaust valve and its staying open a bit which you may have to grind back on the stem and then relap the in the seat but adjust the carb first and see if it takes care of the problem. oldredrider 2,553 #5 Posted January 7, 2014 The cradle mount ground may not be good causing the glow. A bad ground could also cause the backfire and hard starting. Something easy to check and correct. Hope it's as simple as that.

Desko 624 #7 Posted January 7, 2014 Yes if its low on compression because of the head gasket it could make it hard to start
