Snowblower fitment on 418-6

Recommended Posts

Graeme

I recently purchased a 418-6 with what I believe to be a 16hp Kohler Magnum, (I am yet to find any id tags, which is in another post). I think it is a 1987ish and have been looking for a snow blower for it. I found a guy locally who has a beautiful single stage and the numbers on the tag read 8642ST01-10953

7314

Or something like that configuration. From what I know so far 8642ST01 is the blower model number, right? Does anyone know if this thing will plug and play or does it require some kind of retrofit? The guy, who is probably on this forum and seems like a real enthusiast says he has no doubt that it will bolt right up, I am just looking to see if this is a general consensus. I looked at the implement cross reference and it shows four possible numbers for interchange which are 0642ST05, 0642ST06, 0642ST07 and 73960 but I am finding that there is much more to it than that. I have heard reference to a kind of frame used for certain years that will accomodate any implement made in those years, or something of the like. This is all pretty new to me, so bear with me while I attempt to learn the ins and outs of the world of Wheel Horse.

Thanks and Happy New Year

Graeme

Graeme,

That blower will fit your 416. If you buy it, be sure to get the Flag and Lift Rod for it. Belt also if available.

Ok, I've seen this "flag" mentioned a couple times, and I'm fairly certain it isn't a flag in the traditional sense of the word, so what exactly is it?

Open the parts file for the snow blower.

Also check out the operaters manual file.

Part number 20 in the parts file in the post before yours. Slips into the lift tube and attached to the lift on your tractor. Shaped like a flag but not called that by Toro.

Well,  we fitted the snowblower up on Sunday and aside from moving the pulleys over a little to make the belt run straight everything was plug and play. now I need to find a replacement roller for the chute to turn on, it's missing one. Other than that, I wait for the snow. Thanks for the input.

Take one of the rollers out and have one made like it.

Or better yet, I called the guy I bought it from (he is an enthusiast) and he let me help myself to one of his parts blowers. He gave me a replacement roller! nice to have a local "go to guy".
