I just picked up this 312 today. This is like a 1994 Magnum. it is missing the end of the starter. it looks like a nut threads on. It keeps the gear from coming off the end of the shaft?

Thats going to be my next move. Those parts have to have gone someplace. That picture isn't much help.

What do you need?

There are aftermarket drive kits available - along with OEM drives on eBay, etc.

Have you ever removed a starter from a Magnum single?

The mounting bolts can twist off easily - and they are also what hold the starter together.

What is the trick to getting the bolts out? I called around today. They wanted $130 for just the drive or $188 for a complete starter. Who makes a aftermarket one?

Check eBay. There are a couple of M12 starters for around $54.00 with free shipping.
