Kohler K91 odd question...

Recommended Posts

pezsox

So I am putting my engine back together after painting and I have an odd question. I taped and cleaned the smooth metal areas where the carb and points are and I also taped off the area hi-lited in green. do that hole have anything that bolts there or is supposed to be located there. I have 20 pictures before I started and nothing from that angle. Just curious what goes there or if anything bolts there? I am sure everyone is getting a kick out of these ridiculous posts, but trust me I would have given up on this project long ago, had you all not been there.

at least I always include detailed pics!!! if only I took detailed pics to begin with haha

Yep some have a little angled piece runs from there to choke or air cleaner area for support.

well now you have all done it! haha This engine was never messed with and it has the oil bath hanging down, like I have seen some others on here. My bracket that was on there that supports the oil bath, bolts to one of the block bolts that secure the oil pan. Is there one way or the other that the oil works better?

Here's a link for reference...

Which is your oil bath, the up or down draft version?   :scratchead:

Post a pict of the top and bottom of it here.

The updraft filter like you have, which is the correct version, should have the bracket which connects down at the oil pan hole. Craig's pic is the down draft version.

so updraft means it is hanging down, and downdraft means it is up. Man it is like fiction/non fiction. lol

is there one that is preferable? I just want to make sure if my oil filter bracket does not go in that hole, I guess I just plug it with a bolt?

I apologize it will not let me rotate my pics, no clue why?

also somewhat related... when you put the arm that is attached to the throttle cable on the governor should it be facing towards the carb or facing the other way towards the pulley?

Is that the correct elbow/air inlet for an updraft air cleaner?

now you have me worried. haha. here is every angle I can think of.

If everything does look correct, does there need to be a gasket/grommet where the wing nut rod comes up thru the bottom hole? or where it goes thru the top?

YES

The bell is longer on the updraft manifold so it misses the carb bowl
