NewfieRod 0 #1 Posted December 15, 2013 Hey Guys After some great help, from some great people my 416-8 is running nice and smooth! Thanks RS! I've got a blower I purchase and I'm dieing to try. The problem is I don't have the lift bar assemby. Is it okay to use the blower without that part?
Lane Ranger 11,410 #2 Posted December 15, 2013 I would not. The snowthrowers ae very heavy and could do damage to the frame of your tractor without the added benefit of a lift bar rod and flag to offset the weight of the snowthrower. I have one of the smallest snowthrowers made for a Lawn Ranger so my tractors lift rod and flag measurements won't help. Other RS members will help just put what model snowthrower you have for your 416 and you should be able to get what you need to fab one or have a welder fab one for you! leeave96 490 #3 Posted December 15, 2013 Unless there is a need to raise the blower, you are good to go. The lift bar provides no structural support when the blower is in the down position and really doesn't either in the up position - it just pushes the blower to the lifted height about the front quick attach pivot. However, it is VERY important you take plenty of pics and or videos and post them here of the snow blower in action.... ;)

NewfieRod 0 #5 Posted December 15, 2013 Thanks Guys, I had it working for just a couple of passes then the chain come off the tire. it also seems i don't quite have the engine running at the right RPMs. It threw snow but would get choked up in the chute and actually stop the PTO from turning. So i'm going to have to make some adjustments. When she is running right i will post some pictures for sure!
Row Cropper 63 #6 Posted December 22, 2013 I have a blower and snow blade. The blower requires the correct type snow to work effectively and it sounds like you may be dealing with heavy/wet snow that is very difficult to make fly! I don't even consider my blower for less than 8" of snow because I have ample room to move snow with the blade. If I had to throw snow over a fence or hedge, that would be a different story. Also, the blade doesn't care what type snow is in front of it, it will move all types! I have been moving snow with a blade on my WH tractors for nearly 40 years and have piled it 3' to 4' high by running up on packed snow banks. It is nice to have both options, but I always choose the blade until we have the "Big" snow!
WH nut 553 #7 Posted December 23, 2013 Open her wide open and let her throw. if its wet snow smaller bites and less forward speed
ericj 1,579 #8 Posted December 23, 2013 that's what i like about my 2 stage hooked to my 95 520-H, it don't care how much snow or to some degree how wet it will throw it. i was throwing slush at the end of the drive last week, wasn't throwing as far and had to go slow but it through it. the snow was actually to wet and heavy to push to far, but i could still throw it.by the way i do have a 520,2 416-8,416-H and a C120 with plows on them, so i am defenently ready for old man winter when he shows up, if he shows up eric j
Tankman 3,523 #9 Posted December 23, 2013 My driveways are all stone, use the blades always. If needed, I plow every few inches to keep up with the falling white! Chains and weights.
Chevydave 25 #10 Posted December 23, 2013 I have a 416-8 with the single stage blower. I have been using it for years on my gravel drive in all kinds of snow. Spray the auger and chute with silicone before you start, get your speed rite and you can blow anything.
Ed Kennell 42,078 #11 Posted December 28, 2013 My go to snow mover on my stone road is the 4 wheeler with winch operated blade . If it gets over 8", or too heavy to push , I set the blowers 2-3 " up and take the top off, then plow. I don't like raking the stones out of the grass in the spring. With the plow, they are just piled up along the sides of the road, and I use the plow to regrade in the spring. I have blowers on a C-120 and a C-160. RMCIII 838 #12 Posted December 29, 2013 I have a 416-8 with the single stage blower. I have been using it for years on my gravel drive in all kinds of snow. Spray the auger and chute with silicone before you start, get your speed rite and you can blow anything. Heavy wet, or dry fluffy, as long as you keep the auger and chute sprayed with silicone or waxed it will throw the snow. I was throwing slush with mine. Only about 15ft. vs. the 30 plus when it is good snow... You should have more than enough rpm's even if you did not have it WOT. To reduce the force and distance, at times, I have operated mine at 1/2 throttle... Chewed right through the stuff, no problem... You only have 2 less HP. than mine, should not make that much of a difference.
