23 Reo 221 #1 Posted December 14, 2013 On a 7 hp Tecumseh (H7) do you screw in the oil fill cap with dip stick to get the correct oil level reading? Thank you

zanepetty 117 #3 Posted December 14, 2013 I don't know about tecumsehs but in the manual for my k161, which is a Kohler 7 HP, it says don't screw it in. It also says it holds 2.5 pints on the engine tag itself but that puts it way over full.
pfrederi 17,192 #4 Posted December 14, 2013 Tecumseh manuals all call for the dip stick to be screwed in for reading

Ken B 3,116 #9 Posted December 17, 2013 Creep up on the full mark... Techy's don't like too much oil. I have found they don't like too much oil myself but it also seems that they are always low! (or empty)
AMC RULES 36,961 #10 Posted December 17, 2013 (edited) Think that could be the reason why... the manual suggests checking the oil level prior to every use? Edited December 17, 2013 by AMC RULES
