Machria 78 #1 Posted December 10, 2013 Hey guys, It's about to start snowing here and I've been caught with my pants down! The snow blower is NOT attached to my GT14. So I rolled out the blower attachment (on a cart), and the below "bar" fell to the ground. I don't remember seeing this thing before, and can't see where it would go. What is it, and where does it go? Blower also pictured below. The bar has what looks like a brass or copper collar of some sort over it, and that collar looks bent up pretty good, it looks like it will work at whatever it's supposed to do, but I also need to replace it. Where do I get one? Thanks for the help!

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,484 #4 Posted December 10, 2013 Looks like the lift rod in this manual. That copper plumbing fitting was likely added for a spacer for higher lift of the snowthrower. A piece of steel tubing or pipe or flat washers would work better. Basic unit manual Garry

A piece of steel tubing or pipe or flat washers would work better. Basic unit manual Garry That's it!! Thank a million. So it looks like it attaches to the end of the "Tube and Rod", I should be able to figure it out from there. Said to self: Lesson learned idiot! Get the dang snowblower installed BEFORE it starts snowing.
Brrly1 1,146 #6 Posted December 10, 2013 Been there, done that! You'll like the tractor. Practice makes perfect. Good luck
Machria 78 #7 Posted December 10, 2013 Does anyone remove the "Side Extensions" from the snow blower? These are the metal plates that stick out each side an extra 5 or 6 inches or so. I have a small area to snowblow, so I really don't need the extra width, and could benifit from the smaller footprint of the unit. Anyone see a problem with removing them? CasualObserver 3,411 #8 Posted December 10, 2013 Before you remove them, check the width of your wheels... if you remove them, will that make the blower narrower than the tractor? If not a concern... just remove them. They're just there to increase the path.
Machria 78 #9 Posted December 10, 2013 Good point, thanks. Will check that....
varosd 1,185 #10 Posted December 10, 2013 some folks feel the "wings" make the unit pull to one side or another. I have them on and never had an issue, I like to take a smaller bite and w/o the side extensions, the width of the unit is smaller. try using with and w/o them. dbartlett1958 99 #11 Posted December 11, 2013 The wings also serve to protect the auger a bit as they stick out in front of it by 3 or 4 inches. That way if you hit something, the wing takes the hit before the rapidly spinning auger. Either situation is bad, just one is worse!
Machria 78 #12 Posted January 6, 2014 Anyone know the diameter (OD) of the lift rod off hand?
