zmang82 0 #1 Posted December 10, 2013 I have a Kohler K 181 Which is a 8 Hp. I went to start it one day and it wouldn't crank or do anything. so I took the key switch out and it started. once it hit the body of the tractor it killed the motor. so I figured the switch was bad so I replaced the switch now im back to square one. with no power nothing at all. the battery is good and so is the starter. please help! zmang82 0 #3 Posted December 10, 2013 im honestly not to sure it is a wheel horse obviously with 3 speed plus reverse with high and low. the kid I bought it from painted over absolutely everything.
rmaynard 16,210 #4 Posted December 10, 2013 How about posting a picture of it? If it's got a K181 with high/lo, it's got to be a '73 8HP 8 speed, a '76 or '77 B-80, or a C-81. Each one has a little bit different wiring diagram, so it may take me until tomorrow to look them up and make a diagnosis. Be sure that when you are trying to start it that you have the clutch depressed, and the PTO disengaged.
