Im sure I don't have the correct model, but its a 12 horse Kohler with a Hydro trans. Are these tractors any good? Looks in good shape. Original owner. Im more concerned about the transmission then the motor. I can make the motor run perfect. Im looking for a tractor I can plow with and mow. Just thought I would ask. Thanks

I would change the oil, and the tranny lube (oil or ATF) and the filter on the tranny, then saddle up and plow. Great workers!

My Electro 12 is my plow tractor.  She is a beast.  I agree with Kegler change the tranny fluid and filter.  If the old stuff is red get ATF if tan 10w-30 motor oil.

There should be an ID plate on the hoodstand below the dash housing. Will have the model number and serial number on it.

That is the same tractor as my Charger 12, great tractor for plowing. You will need chains or Ag tires and some weight on the rear wheels but it should plow anything you come across.

This is like 1971 vintage..What im curious about is if the older hydros had any problems?

Hydros hate dirt.  Small amounts of grit can do big damage.  Both of my older piston/gear hydros (Charger 12 and Electro 12) work extremely well..  (Better than some of my later piston to piston hydros)

If the POs changed the filters and fluid occasionally you should have no problem

I have a 1966 Charger 10 and a '67 1077. Both hydros, one with hydro lift, the other without. Have never had any trouble with eather trany other than oil seals and a couple of minor adjustment issues. Have fun!

I used to own a electro 12  the kohler motor best one they ever made and the hydro trans also very good just didn,t care for the fuel tank set up on the older tractors mounted over the battery . creates a problem when you  try to refill fuel tank , especially when you,ve been running it for awhile and it,s hot .  sold it bought 312-8 and 520-h   like them a lot better.
