DOC in Kentucky 178 #1 Posted December 6, 2013 Guys, I have a chance to do some horse trading for a 516H. I am being told it ran fine, was running great then died and now won't restart. Original owner claims to have rebuilt it, put in " new pistons, valve springs, everything" as well as new plugs and wires. He thinks it a "wiring issue" My question is this, what is the pro's and con's of the 516h? are they a decent WH tractor or not worth their weight in crap? I have been looking for a 520 for some time but they seem to bring more money then I am willing to pay! Thanks for your input and suggestions!
varosd 1,185 #2 Posted December 6, 2013 so he rebuilt it then it died or the other way around. molex 9 pin plug could be the issue or a whole slew of other possibilities. 516H has the no so great Eaton 700 tranny. plus its manual lift while 520 was hydro lift
DOC in Kentucky 178 #3 Posted December 6, 2013 Thanks Don and yes he rebuilt it, said it was running great, then quit. He thinks its a wiring issue!!! I am aware of the molex pin issue. I have a 312 and 417h already but wanted something a little bigger for snow blower duty.

ericj 1,579 #5 Posted December 22, 2013 if it just shut off and won't restart my money would be on the ignition module. they are easy to check, the onan manual give step by step directions to do it.i would have grave concerns for giving big bucks for any none running onan and eaton 700 rear end. you could do compression test to see if rods and valve seats are good and bump he price up accordingly any questions i can help you with just pm me eric j
