leeave96 490 #1 Posted December 4, 2013 Were the Kohler twin cylinder engines on these tractors cast iron? If so, did they weigh more than a 14 or 16 cast iron single? Did they weigh more than an Onan? With the twin Kohler K-17 and what I think is a right heavy engine, were these tractors any harder to steer? Thanks! 6.0 powerstroke 62 #3 Posted December 4, 2013 my 417 steers better than the c120 ,its probably just the age difference , but I cant say its any noticeable effort

Wheel-N-It 2,976 #5 Posted December 4, 2013 Bill, I don't have any problem steering my 417. I do make it a practice however not to turn the steering wheel unless the tractor is in motion. I think to turn the wheel with the tractor sitting stationary causes extra wear on the steering system, and also extra wear on the tie rods. I've always done this with my 312 and the steering is every bit as tight as it was the day I brought it home new from the dealer.
