jusjeepn 59 #1 Posted September 1, 2008 Can you see the treasure? Look closer I sold the SMS-425 on ebay this past week and purchased a few items to boot. The items purchased were close to my buyer, sssooooo... ROAD TRIP!!! Hoping to meet another W/H fanatic I agreed to deliver the 425. I left out at 7:00 Indiana time. I first met up with Paul near Ogden Ill. Super nice guy! He even offered to show me his collection. Unfortunately his collection was not red. It was orange. My curiosity peeked I asked where the W/H was he was going to mount the 425 to was. He Proceded to tell me of his plan and showed me a 2 wheel tractor which he intended to modify... I couldn't believe my ears. I had unknowingly sold out to a butcher. I almost cried... Who am I kiddin, I did! After a tearful goodbye to the 425, I move westward onto Decatur to pickup my ill gotten booty. Now before you judge me on the color, let me tell you my intentions. HORSETRADE. The orange for the red. So I met Sally, Charles' wife. Super nice lady and more than willing to show her husbands collection. Another all orange garage. A tear came to my eye as I remembered the 425. After saying goodbye and excusing myself for the puddle of tears on the garage floor, I headed to Freeburg. Now Freeburg is about 30 miles south/east of St. Louis. One heck of a drive. On the way there I tried to contact Joel back in Indiana, hoping to give him a visit and check out the Vertical Ranch on the way home, but time just wouldn't allow it. I arrived in Freeburg and met Jim. Some of you may know Jim as huff711 on ebay. Super, Super nice guy. Showed my his herd and a few he had just sold. The 58RJ really caught my eye and when he told me he sold it to a guy in Mn. for next to nothing my heart sank again. A day late and a dollar short (my life story). Talked to Jim about 45min before starting back home. Before I left, Jim said something about two suburban 400 parts tractors, or something like that. He offered them to me for nothing but the truck was full. I will return for those later. 797mi logged on the ticker before I arrived back home with my treasures. My wife wanted to know when I was going to the junk yard because orange paint doesn't go with red, but I told her they would just have to go in the barn with the green ones. I'm sure most of you have already pick out the RED treasure. The long frame dozer blade will be used on the 69 Electro 12. The disc is real W/H, slated for resto this winter along with the plow and tiller. This is getting me real close to completing the accessories for the 69 Electro. I am still missing the grader blades for both the 69 and the 70 Electros (year specific). Any one need something orange?
