Front Tire Size Mistake?

Recommended Posts

Zeek

I bought a new set Carlise Turf Savers from a local dealer at a good price.

I went to mount the fronts today and looks like I went too big.  The front tires are 16x7.5x8.  The rim looks to be about 4-4.5" wide and it seems like they are going to be squeezed too much.

I'm thinking drop to 16x6.5x8 ??  I want a wider look, but not rounded in the tread area.

Measure the rims from inside the bead to inside the bead, where the tire seals, those rims are about 3 5/8" yes the tires you have will be a bit wide, WH used the 16x6.5x8 tires on those rims in the early 70's, I personally still think they are to wide for the rims, what tractor are these going on ?? if the right one you could just upgrade to the newer wide rims and the tires you have will be fine. the newer rims are 5 3/8" wide at the beads

The tractor is a 72 Raider 12.  I'd rather keep the stock rims I have since they have been redone.

Some of those tri ribs would fit those rims good.....they are a 4.0/8 tire.....pretty cheap too....probably not what you seek zeek.... :)
