Charlie Smith 142 #1 Posted November 27, 2013 Right Hello All, Just want to set a few things straight, can't really get my head around it, I received a letter in the post this morning,.... And like it states, good news, along with some bad, The letter reads: Dear Charlie, Thank you for exhibiting at the ardingly vintage vehicle show this year, your support in the horticutual section was very much appreciated, We are Writing to you with news, bad and good..... For reasons various we will not be the organising team of the horticultural section at ardingly show in 2014, this will be disappointing to you as it is to us, but we feel we can no longer support this event, please see the attached letter from the show organiser this may answer any questions you may have, The good news is we can offer you a chance to display your exhibit at ardingly smallholders show which is heald the weekend before the vintage vechiel show next years dates will be 5th and 6th of July, So does this mean no more wheelhorse round up atall? Or no more wheel horse round up at the vintage vechiel show, if there still is going to be a round up where would it all take place? I'm just confused aha, Many thanks Charlie
meadowfield 2,754 #2 Posted November 27, 2013 News to me! I'm looking arrange a northern round up at Newby Hall in June. Let's see what the others have to say... Btw did you get my mail re: decals?
Charlie Smith 142 #3 Posted November 27, 2013 No mark I haven't received any mail if you send to Charliejanman@hotmail.com
meadowfield 2,754 #4 Posted November 27, 2013 It's true, one of the organisers has just called me to confirm they have pulled out of Ardingly. There may well be one organised down South, but for now I'll look to start a northern meet thread once I have all the details.
Stigian 1,234 #5 Posted November 27, 2013 That's not sounding good!! It's a great show ! I expect I will get my "sorry" letter in the post any day!! I wonder why there's no mention of it on the VHGMC website/forum?
Stigian 1,234 #6 Posted November 27, 2013 At least there are some Wheel Horses to be seen in the gallery of the Smallholders website http://www.smallholdershows.co.uk/index.html
Charlie Smith 142 #7 Posted November 27, 2013 If you do not receive your letter Ian, on the back of mine it says for further information or just a chat! Call Paul and Wendy on ************ so if you do not receive one! give someone a ring, A show up north sounds like a cool idea, however lets just hope everyone could make it, along with the meet up north, we should still arrange a roundup down here, maybe at the same show ground, just the smallholders show, or netley marsh, or somewhere like that
Stigian 1,234 #8 Posted November 27, 2013 Thanks Charlie, I will give Paul a call tomorrow evening.. I expect his phone hasn't stopped ringing since people started getting the letters.. The Smallholders show looks like it could be an interesting event to attend. It would be great to meet up with all you fine Wheel Horse guy's at a show next year.. Charlie Smith 142 #9 Posted November 27, 2013 It's no problem Ian if you don't already have his number PM me and I shall pass it on, and yes we cannot let it die out, we must all meet once again, Even if it's not a proper round up as such just we all agree on a show and enter our exhibits and all meet up once down there sorta thing, It was my first round up this year it cannot be the last..... neil 2,410 #10 Posted November 27, 2013 This is also news to me , Really disapoiinting, I dont know what the reason is but i guess we will find out soon . It would be a real shame for it not to continue as i for one enjoyed meeting up with everyone & the last two years were an oustanding success & a really good turnout. There is a local steam show to me here in Somerset that happens on the same weekend as Ardingley which is a good show , if anyone is interested & they fancy a weekend near the somerset seaside then i could arange for annual Wheelhorse Roundup to continue . As well as Marks Northern Roundup im sure we can all have a meet up .
Charlie Smith 142 #11 Posted November 27, 2013 Sounds good to me, round up in Somerset, tell you what, let's have a round up at every show aha
meadowfield 2,754 #12 Posted November 27, 2013 Steve Denness called me earlier, for various reasons - one being the organisers were trying to charge all exhibitors to camp the committee decided to withdraw from the show. Steve's back up plans are the week before, or possibly tractor fest in August. It will be a shame if we can't plan an alternative venue !
pmackellow 12 #13 Posted November 27, 2013 Afternoon chaps, don't panic !! I'd rather not go into our reasons on an open forum, anyone that entered this year will have been sent one of the letters mentioned above, we are looking at other venues for a Southern Roundup, possibly at the Smallholders Show at Ardingly or at Tractorfest at Biddenden at the end of August Don't fret, this isn't the end but perhaps a new beginning... It has not been mentioned on the VHGMC website as we thought it would be nicer to contact you all personally Paul
meadowfield 2,754 #14 Posted November 27, 2013 Btw, I think the other forum is not working as many of us have slowed down to a stop since the new format came along. Let's see how long it takes for it to become a subject on there.... Afternoon chaps, don't panic !! It has not been mentioned on the VHGMC website as we thought it would be nicer to contact you all personally Paul Hey we aren't fretting yet... We'll pull something out of the hat and get together, that's the great thing about this forum and it's members!
pmackellow 12 #15 Posted November 27, 2013 (edited) Funny you should mention that about the other forum Mark... Thats ok I got the impression reading the above posts that the end of the world had arrived !!! Edited November 27, 2013 by pmackellow
meadowfield 2,754 #16 Posted November 27, 2013 Ha, for some yes... For the rest of us we can sort something, even if it's only a few of us we'll manage a meet up! For now you guys down South might miss project C4 unless you make it up north :D
pmackellow 12 #17 Posted November 27, 2013 Just sent a text to Chris Sutton aka The Showman, he and Mrs Showman are laid low with a flu bug, no doubt he will be on here somewhen !! We might see your project at Newby then Mark as we have that planned for June 2014... Something will happen down South next year, as I said there are two alternative venues we are thinking about but its Chris' baby really so he's the gaffer on this one... Anyone who does not get the letter by the weekend please let me know and I will get another copy out to you, they were all posted at the same time on Monday evening at our local sorting office so they should all reach you... Stigian 1,234 #18 Posted November 27, 2013 For now you guys down South might miss project C4 unless you make it up north Noooooo!! The world really has ended!! :D For me the Tractorfest site would be ideal, it is rather close to me What will be, will be.. as long as we have a get together somewhere at some point I'm a happy bunny
neil 2,410 #19 Posted November 27, 2013 I wonder if it would be possible to alternate the venue each year so that each person gets to be the Host just a thought
pmackellow 12 #20 Posted November 27, 2013 A very good thought Neil, what do other people think ??

Charlie Smith 142 #23 Posted November 27, 2013 In the field that backs on to my garden aha I wish!.... However if anybody has a plough or cultivator, there is a vintage tractor and small holders ploughing match, not that we would win, but would be worth the laugh. Anglo Traction 761 #24 Posted November 27, 2013 Mmm, that's a bit of a Bu**er about losing that venue. I wonder if it would be possible to alternate the venue each year so that each person gets to be the Host just a thought Maybe I can have a word to see if I can have the use of the 9 acre field for a few days and have a UK RS meet. I'm going down there tomorrow.
chris sutton 610 #25 Posted November 28, 2013 All your comments are interesting and taken onboard. We have had two Wheelhorse Roundups that have been a big sucess, I have been to meetings with steve and talked at lenth with paul and it seemed the best thing to do was to pull out of Ardingly, it was a tough choice as many of us have been going for years. We came out with all the good memorys and made some history at the same time. when you all have seen the letter it will be clear why we did this and felt that we should pull out having a good time rather then chance another show and leave with egg on our face's. (if any of you want a chat about this pm me your phone number) as we go out of 2013 with a bang we'll go into 2014 with some new idea's and venues. Iam sure there will be a Round-up 3 .it just needs sorting. Thanks all for your support. Chris sutton (aka The Showman)
