rustyoldjunk 127 #1 Posted August 31, 2008 spending a little free time today (not had much lately) trying to get the 1257 where it starts and runs so i can move it around.i replaced the starter generator because the one on it stopped working( possibly because of how it was wired?)i replaced the volage regulator back on the fresh starter/gen and wired it back as it was. then i tried to start it and the post with the positive cable on it begin smoking( quick unhook the battery ) on the wiring diagram picture i have it shows the middle regulator wire to the positive cable,i have that.the front wire to the Fterminal on the gen.,i have that.but there is a wire coming from the underside of the regulator that was hooked to the positive terminal on the gen.i thought it might be a ground so i tried that,it got real hot real fast( thought i had caught it on fire ) where does the wire go coming from the underside of the regulator? its not on the wiring diagram i have. :banghead:
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #2 Posted August 31, 2008 The wire from the bottom of the regulator goes to the armature post ("A") on the S/G.
