Racinbob 11,938 #11 Posted November 20, 2013 Noooooo!!!!!!!! We've lived in Florida 13 years now and are very acclimated to the warmth. Currently I'm at the kids house in northern Indiana and freezing my tail off when I go outside. I'm voting for a nice stretch of above normal temperatures but looking at the forecast I don't think my vote counts. Dang! Was that a penguin I just saw in the back yard??
rmaynard 16,299 #12 Posted November 20, 2013 Dang! Was that a penguin I just saw in the back yard?? No, it was just a pelican in a tuxedo wanting you to come back home to Florida.
Racinbob 11,938 #13 Posted November 20, 2013 It must be my frozen brain cells playing tricks on me. Actually, I miss the snow. We have tossed around moving back here. I could get used to the cold again and I don't think it would take long. I do remember the fun I had plowing the 800' of driveway we had.

I'm voting for a nice stretch of above normal temperatures but looking at the forecast I don't think my vote counts. Dang! Was that a penguin I just saw in the back yard?? Hmm. Figment of your imagination. Just think it is warm out, and you will be fine. Lived in Fla., Cali. and Texas since 1991. Moved back up north 2012. No worries. Grin and bear it. Actually, I left South Fla. and made a promise, to never go back again. The last 3 years we lived there, the coldest we saw in winter months was 80 degrees at 5am and it went up from there. I can always get warm, but can't always get cool. Especially when it is that hot and muggy. As for the white stuff. Yep, still waiting myself, to finally see some of it. They say it is out there somewhere, but it is definitely, not here....

boovuc 1,090 #17 Posted November 21, 2013 I don't believe you guys! Give me two inches of snow for bear and deer season coming up in the next week then a white Christmas. After that............browns and grays are perfectly fine with me. But you know, if it is going to snow, I'm going to go out and plow, blow and scoop! After all, if you have tools to do a job, you might as well use them. (With a big s#@t-eating grin on your face)!
Racinbob 11,938 #18 Posted November 21, 2013 I can always get warm, but can't always get cool. Especially when it is that hot and muggy. I agree with that. I hate the Florida summers. I know I could easily get back to being able to tolerate the cold and even loving it but it's not possible just being up here for short periods. I just got off the phone with my wife. It sounds like I may be here watching the grandkids longer than expected. The tests they want to do on my daughter is a drawn out process and could last a couple more weeks. So much for the 4-7 days like they first said. Oh well. I'll do whatever it takes. I just want her better.
Irv 115 #19 Posted November 21, 2013 I don't believe these guys either. Sounds like somebody needs to get a life if all they have to do is sit around and hope for snow!!! A little for deer hunting is nice but I don't mind not having to plow or blow the white stuff.

timo4352 147 #21 Posted November 21, 2013 I finally got the garage cleaned out so I can park my van inside at night. I sure don't like scraping snow off the car just to go to work And I'm the guy at work that's gotta clean up all the snow - so that kinda sucks. But playing around at home with the tractor is much more better. Unless it's ridiculously cold out ---- but I've got a cab now ---- scratch that.

Ken B 3,189 #24 Posted November 22, 2013 As of last week I have a perfectly smooth road in front of my house to play on. Now all I have to do is find a forward swept blade extension for my snow blade as my 417-8 has a forward swept front axle in it. If I don't get a blade on the 417 it will be either my newly purchased 657 (with Kohher 6hp) or the 854 with a blade on it. I'm in no hurry for snow, I take care of clearing the walkways and the loading docks at work when it snows. I took over the job because the 4 no speaks that were doing it were destroying the equipment and I was getting tired of fixing it due to neglect. They wouldn't listen to instruction even with an interpreter so I took it over. I don't mind, it gets me out of the building. I also take pride that I can get it done faster and do a much better job than what four guys were doing.
squonk 43,843 #25 Posted November 22, 2013 We have to help out at the Hospital when it snows. From now on though all I'm going to use is a shovel. We have a China/Korean 4x4 tractor with a loader with a hydro trans. The grounds guy beats the crap out of it and doesn't maintain it well. The Electrician need help one day pulling some old underground cable out and we used the tractor and I got to drive it. The hydro was so out of whack , you had to STAND on the brake pedal to hold the tractor still while in neutral. The only other way to do it was to completely disengage the trans. I told the boss the tractor needed to be looked at because it was dangerous. The next day the grounds guy verbally assault's me in the hallway in front of a lot of other people. I tore him a new one and vowed never to touch that tractor again no matter what. Last year we got a big storm and I'm out with a walk behind snowblower. He's driving around in the truck yelling at everybody and so on. He says to me he's going to top off the gas in my snowblower. I start wiping off the snow and ice to get to the kill switch and he just takes off the gas cap with it running and just dumps gas so it overflows all over the engine and me. I get it shut down and it's popping and smoking. I walked inside and said that's it. No more power eq. with him around.
