Looking for resto project

Recommended Posts

I hope it's OK to post this to bring attention to a classified I just posted. I've mentioned the problem with finding Wheel Horses in Florida. Less than fortunate circumstances will be bringing me back to northern Indiana for a couple of weeks. I'm looking for a round hood, preferably a ball burner to bring back with me to restore. I was up there the first week of October but we had my wife's car and no way to haul it. This time I'll have my truck. Any leads would be appreciated. Maybe I'll get lucky.

I will keep a lookout for you. There is a guy down the road from me that has two RJ skeletons setting out in his yard but have know Idea what he is doing with them. Been there for awhile. There not anything you would want to drag down south with you. Maybe he has something else that's not seen.

Thanks MalMac.

I saw one when we were up there the first week of Oct. on US 6 just east of 31 but it looked like it was being used as a lawn decoration. Naturally I'd like it to be as complete as possible but I'll be in no rush to restore it and the parts search is fun. Thanks.

I've already received several PM's with possibilities. Thank you everyone and keep them coming. Please don't think I'm ignoring any of them if I don't get right back to you. The time is coming where I need to get the bags and truck packed up and ready to go. I'll be on and off here the rest of the day then not again until tomorrow night in the hotel. For old codgers like me it's a two day drive.

What an incredible bunch of folks on this site!

It sounds like I'll need to stop there and strike up a conversation. That's just a few miles from the kids house. I might wish that I had my trailer with me too!

I have a 1960 Model 400 for sale, no motor, good condition. Maybe a few other ball burners too. KJ

I'm holed up in Murfreesboro, TN for the night. It was wet pretty much all the way. I'm looking forward to getting to Indiana. It will take me a couple days before I get some free time but I'm excited about the possibilities.

Well, I just made it to the kids house. Major delay in Indy and again in Kokomo. No reasoning for Indy but Kokomo was a mess after yesterdays storms. A new Chevy dealer looked like an auto salvage yard. I would say they could have a scratch and dent sale but it's more like a smashed and destroyed sale. It the next couple of days I'll be contacting folks to see if I can arrange meeting. For convenience I'll probably set something up with a member that just a very few miles away. Again, I appreciate all the replies and PM's. I'll keep everyone posted.

Meeting another member Friday morning to look at some round hoods. :banana-wrench: Could it be possible that my little silver truck will have red in the bed heading back home?
