fourwheels0 191 #1 Posted November 15, 2013 on my 1962 702 my battery is dead but if i jump start it it will run until i disconnect the jump box. is it because the battery in the tractor is dead or is there another issue?. i'm not familiar with this setup. posifour11 723 #2 Posted November 15, 2013 Sounds like it to me. 12 volts are required for the ignition system.
stevasaurus 23,236 #3 Posted November 15, 2013 I would put a milti-meter across the terminals on the battery...should have about 12.5 volts. Check your battery cables for corrosion, you have an open circuit either there on in the battery itself. This assumes that you jumped the battery at the terminals...not jumped at the starter, or used the frame as the ground.
fourwheels0 191 #4 Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) yes jumped at the battery. battery is on the charger now and we'll see if it takes a charge. Edited November 15, 2013 by fourwheels0

stevasaurus 23,236 #6 Posted November 15, 2013 See...you just can't beat a 702...you are going to love that horse. And that hrdro lift....the HY-2 is excellent with a snow blade or blower.
fourwheels0 191 #7 Posted November 15, 2013 i have a 160 auto with a 48 inch blade for plowing. would the 702 take the a-frame style plow?. if so maybe i need to look for one lol.
stevasaurus 23,236 #8 Posted November 15, 2013 Yes it is an "A" frame blade, but it will be about 3 or 4 inches shorter then the blade you have. See if there is another set of holes a few inches in front of the back end of your blade frame, where it mounts on the transmission. If so, you can move the mount bar to that location and it will fit. Check out this thread...
